Question and Answer
How to play
Pick a key and a scale you know, such as A minor pentatonic. Play a short two-bar phrase. This is your question.
Now answer it with another two-bar phrase. An answer might echo the question with a small change, or move somewhere that feels like an ending.
Keep going: question, answer, new question, new answer. Count the bars so the phrases stay the same length.
Challenge
Make your questions end on a note that feels unresolved and your answers end on the root. Then try three questions in a row before the answer arrives.
Tips
A question often ends high or off the root. An answer often comes back down and lands on a long note.
